At BetterBack, we take great pride in providing the finest chiropractic wellness care to our patients. Below is a sampling of the different chiropractic services we offer in our Victoria office.
We provide spinal correction utilizing gentle chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Brad Gage has years of training and experience in spinal adjustment.
We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.
We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each patient is a whole person, and helping them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.
Spinal & Postural Screenings
Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being. We provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment. Contact us today to arrange a screening at your event or workplace.
We choose to provide these products because we know that our own families and our patients require them to maximize their health. Please take a few moments to learn more about these amazing products and ask your BetterBack chiropractor about these essential nutrients:
Spinal decompression therapy is essentially the evolution of traction. When traction is applied to the spine, the body's reaction is to pull in the opposite direction. This can affect the effectiveness of traction on spinal structures like discs. Spinal decompression equipment, on the other hand, contains sensitive computer-feedback mechanisms to overcome this phenomenon and allow for maximum therapeutic benefit to spinal discs, joints and muscles. The computer continuously monitors muscular reaction and compensates by re-adjusting traction strength. Each treatment with spinal decompression can be customized to a specific type of problem a patient may have with a variety of adjustable constant or intermittant hold and release protocols implemented by the computerized system.
At The BetterBack Clinic, being able to properly visualize your spine adds to our understanding of your spinal problem, which is why we have invested in a state of the art fully digital X-ray system.
The only way to determine whether or not the spine is structurally healthy is with proper imaging. Digital X-ray is the new standard of spinal imaging and is done first, before advanced imaging (like a MRI or CT SCAN) is considered. X-ray also has the advantage of being able to take the images in a "weight-bearing" position (sitting or standing), unlike CT or MRI which are done laying down in almost every case. When imaging is done in a weight-bearing position, the spine is "loaded" and structural instabilities and other problems like disc compression can be more evident.
Proper imaging of the spine allows us to safely and quickly identify degenerative issues and postural problems that may affect your treatment plan, recovery time, and overall prognosis. The latest scientific literature suggests that low-dose (diagnostic) X-rays cause NO HARM and in fact that not taking imaging can be more harmful to the patient. The BetterBack Mobility Class is what we recommend people attend within the first two weeks of beginning treatment in the clinic. This class is focussed on exercises that are designed to improve mobility and function, reduce symptoms, and speed the healing of injuries. In our experience, people who do the BetterBack Mobility exercises at home "Get Better Faster" than those that don't!
After the BetterBack Mobility exercises are going well, people are often looking for more advanced exercises that will challenge them even more! Improvements in posture, balance, strength and endurance can be achieved by doing the more advanced exercises we prescribe.
